Accounts and study records
KinStudy stores your name, email address, student or teacher role, and a password hash to provide your account. Passwords are not available for teachers to read. The server also stores class memberships, invitations, practice scores, incorrect attempts, completion times, and multiplayer match records.
PSK4U practice assignments
PSK4U assignments are addressed privately to existing student accounts and appear inside KinStudy at sign-in. The server stores assignment delivery and opening dates, self-checked completed and missed question IDs, review dates, and completed checklist counts. Typed recall answers stay on the current page and are not uploaded. Assigned students’ progress saves to their accounts, with a browser copy for reconnection. Only site administrators can view the assigned class roster, each student’s opened date, recorded attempts, questions marked remembered or needing review, and last practice time. Each attempt stores a question ID, self-checked outcome and server time. Typed recall answers are not included. Self-checked results are practice records, not supervised grades.
Teacher-created quizzes
Teachers can save question sets and publish them to their classes. Submitted answers, marks, submission times, and teacher feedback are stored on the server. Multiple-choice and short-answer questions are marked automatically; long answers are reviewed by the teacher who published the quiz. Do not include sensitive personal information in questions or answers.
Who can see your information
Your class teacher can see their roster and the study records provided in the teacher workspace. The teacher who publishes a quiz can read its submissions and give feedback. Students sharing a class can see each other's names in the classmate picker, but that picker does not disclose email addresses. Site administrators and the hosting provider may have access needed to operate and maintain the service. Records are not intentionally published as a public student directory.
Account activity visible to administrators
When you are signed in, KinStudy sends the category, study mode, question number, and whether the page is being viewed, used for practice, paused, or in the background. A visible page sends an update about every 30 seconds. Administrators can see this activity beside your account name and email, and a history of sign-ins, sign-outs, category changes, answer attempts, skips and pauses. This indicates activity of the signed-in account, not proof of which person is at the device. Multiple tabs or devices can replace an account's latest activity. The activity log does not contain passwords, sign-in tokens, keystrokes, typed answer text, or an added IP/device fingerprint. Activity records older than 30 days are removed on the next activity request; existing account and submitted-classwork records follow the separate retention policy below.
Leaving a class and retention
You can leave a class, and its teacher can remove members. This ends access to that class's activities; it does not delete previously submitted work or your account. Submitted work remains available to the teacher who received it. Open Account to download your data, delete study and support data, or permanently delete your account. Your current password and a confirmation word are required for deletion. Account deletion revokes all sessions and removes your profile, memberships, private assignments, practice records and support conversations from the active database. Shared class publications and published diagram edits remain without your account identity so other students keep their materials. Downloads and copies stored on other devices are not remotely erased. Hosting logs and provider backups are managed by the hosting provider; deletion from the active site is not a guarantee of immediate erasure from those systems. For corrections, help or provider-held data questions, contact Warren Dodds at doddsw72@gmail.com.
Browser storage and reading aloud
An essential HttpOnly cookie keeps you signed in. Your browser also stores basic account display details, device-only progress and preferences. Sign out on shared devices. Built-in anatomy terms use pre-generated audio files served by KinStudy. Listening to them does not send your answers or other text to an external speech service.
Hosting, cookies, and analytics
The hosting provider may process connection details such as IP addresses and request logs when serving the site. KinStudy does not intentionally add advertising trackers. Linked websites and browser speech services have their own privacy policies.
School use and questions
KinStudy is a student-built study resource. Teachers should follow their school's approval and student-privacy requirements before using accounts and classroom features. Contact the site owner through the school or course channel for questions about this policy.
Study tools and notes
Revision tasks, notebook text, timer settings and practice-tool results stay in this browser, separately for each account. They do not sync between devices. Download a backup from Study tools before clearing browser data. Personal task and note text is not sent to the account activity log. Printable practice sheets are created in your browser.
Support requests and pet study tools
Support requests are private to your account and site administrators. A new request sends an email alert to doddsw72@gmail.com through the site’s email provider. The alert contains a link to the private inbox; it does not copy your message or email address. Accounts can have up to five open requests and must wait five minutes between new requests. Administrators can pause support submissions with a reason while leaving past conversations readable. Support access settings remain until restored or the account is deleted; the access-change history is kept for 30 days. Clearing study data does not remove an active support restriction.
Pet sketches, checklists, recall notes and review schedules are saved in this browser for the signed-in account. They do not sync to other devices or change grades. Clearing browser storage removes them. Download sketches or copy notes you want to keep.
Personal flashcards
Decks, card text, memory notes and flashcard review progress are stored in this browser, separately for each signed-in account . They do not sync to other devices. Clearing browser data removes them. Exported deck backups include your card text and review progress; keep those files somewhere safe.
Personal card text is not sent to the account activity log. Signed-in activity can report the flashcard mode and question count, as described above.
Accounts and support requests
Study pages require an account. Sign-in uses an essential, HttpOnly cookie that expires after 30 days; signing out revokes that session. Passwords are stored as hashes. Temporary request counters help limit sign-in abuse.
Support requests include your account name and email, the page address, and the messages you send. Only your account and site admins can read the conversation. Requests stay in private server storage so you can return to them. Use Account options to download your data or delete your account and support history. For help, contact doddsw72@gmail.com. Do not include passwords or sensitive personal information.
Practice details and games
Site admins can see which assigned PSK4U questions you have marked as remembered, needing another try, or skipped, along with attempt counts and practice dates. These are self-checked answers, not test grades. Admins can also see remembered and missed diagram structures, answer counts and dates. Diagram choices are checked against the correct structure. Existing browser-saved diagram progress syncs when you sign in; new diagram attempts are saved to your account. These records stay until you clear your study data or delete your account. Your typed recall drafts are not sent to admins. Memory game results are stored on this browser for your account and are included when you download or clear this browser’s data.
You can change your profile name and password from Your account, check the number of active sign-ins, and sign out other sessions.
Email security codes
When email verification is enabled, KinStudy requires your password and a one-time email code to sign in. Creating an account also requires an email code. Codes expire after ten minutes. We store a keyed hash of the code, a temporary browser binding, failed-attempt counts and verification dates. Temporary challenges are removed after they expire, when the authentication service next runs.
Resend processes your email address and security message to deliver these codes. Security emails do not subscribe you to marketing. Security emails come from security@kinstudy.org, using KinStudy’s verified sending domain. Existing sign-in sessions stay active until they expire or you sign out.
Points, pets and themes
Your point balance, question rewards, unlocked cosmetics, chosen theme and pet settings are stored with your account so they work across devices. A game sends the question identifier and chosen answer to check its reward. Rewards are limited to once per question per day, up to 300 points. These records are included in your account download. Clearing your study data or deleting your account removes your points and cosmetics too.
Technical error reports
KinStudy reports JavaScript error types, file names, line numbers, failed resource names, page paths, HTTP status codes and the site version to admins. Reports from signed-in pages are associated with your account for counting affected accounts; the error list does not show account names. The reporter does not collect error messages, stacks, form contents, passwords, email codes, URL query values or typed answers. Repeated reports are grouped and kept for up to 30 days. Hosting request logs are separate.
Confirming account changes
When email codes are enabled, a new code is required for changing your password or profile name, downloading your data, clearing data, deleting your account, or signing out other devices. Codes are bound to the exact action and current session, expire after ten minutes, and allow five incorrect attempts. Cancelling leaves your account unchanged.
Friends, profiles and multiplayer games
You can add someone using a private friend code. Both accounts must accept. Accepted friends and people in your classes can see your equipped avatar, pet and earned game badges. They cannot see your email, study mistakes or private classwork through these profiles. Site admins can view profile cards. There is no public account search or player directory.
KinStudy stores friend requests, blocks, game invitations, answers, scores and preset reactions with your account. Your friend sees your answers after a round ends. Friends can see when you are in the playroom. Reactions disappear from the live game after six seconds and are deleted from storage after an hour when another reaction is sent. Game history stays until you clear your data or delete your account. These actions also remove your friendships, invites and shared game records. Account downloads include your own game answers and redact other player identifiers. Removing or blocking a friend closes your open games together. New friend codes stop old codes from working.
Completed multiplayer games update practice goals. Bonus Kins are available for your first three finished games each Toronto day, within the existing daily Kins limit. Scores and rewards are checked on the server. Games are for practice, not test grades.
Classrooms, assignments and live quizzes
Your chosen learning role, classroom requests, membership, announcements, assignment answers, saved attempts, results and teacher feedback are stored on the server. Classroom owners can review their students’ answers. Other students cannot read your private attempts. People in the same active live quiz can see each other’s equipped avatar and pet; blocking still prevents profile access. Live participants see display names and permitted game scores; answer keys are withheld until reveal. Only signed-in accounts can join a live quiz.
Release acknowledgements and shop suggestion preferences are saved to your account. Your account download includes your own new practice and live-quiz records. Clearing study data removes your own attempts, live answers and suggestion preferences. Deleting your account also removes your learning role and authored live-quiz definitions, ends your hosted sessions and archives assignments you created. Other students’ submissions are retained without the deleted teacher’s identity.
Administrators can correct Kin balances. A separate immutable audit record stores account identifiers, amount, previous and resulting balances, reason, administrator identifier and timestamp. These security and accounting records are retained after account deletion; they do not copy email addresses or profile names. Administrators should not enter student personal information into adjustment reasons. Kins are earned cosmetic currency with no cash value.
Google sign-in, announcements and moderation
When Google sign-in is enabled, KinStudy receives your verified email, name and a Google account identifier. Google access tokens are used only for the sign-in check, then discarded. An email code confirms ownership before an existing account is linked. New users also choose a password and a student or teacher role.
Dismissed announcements are saved with their version. Browser preferences remember update settings and the last sign-in method, without saving a password or verification code.
Account restrictions apply to a normalized email hash and account ID. Administrators record a reason and may keep internal investigation notes. Restriction records can remain after account deletion to enforce an active restriction and handle appeals. Contact Warren to ask about a restriction or request a correction. This does not identify or block every alternate account.
Learning-progress reset is separate from complete data deletion. Reset removes diagram history, personal practice and PSK4U checklist progress while keeping your Kins, cosmetics, pets, friends, streaks, support conversations and classroom submissions.
